Brachypelma smithi is a terrestrial tarantula who originates from the Pacific side of Mexico, in scrubland and deserts. Adults grow to be 5-5.5". They are calm, docile and one of the more "handleable" species of tarantulas. Chili (seen above) is very easy going and has a nice temperment. She will on occasion flick urticating hairs if she doesn't feel like being held, but in general is a very agreeable girl. This species is also known for being long lived.
